Information About Myself Or My Family

Q. If I put information about myself or my family on the Community Network, will strangers be able to see it?

A. The only people who can view information you put on the Community Network are fellow Community Network members. Because this system is an Intranet (see What is an Intranet?), the general public, search engines, etc., cannot find information we post. In addition, you can pick and choose which information in your profile is shown to other Community Network Members. You can prevent others from seeing:

  • your address
  • your telephone number
  • your personal Web site URL

In addition, your email address does not show up in your profile. When a Member clicks the email So-and-So link next to the envelope graphic on hir or her profile, the message screen that pops up does NOT list the email address. See How can I email a fellow Community Network member?

However, once you are participating in a Group, and email messages are going to all Members, their email addresses DO show up. So fellow Group participants can learn your email address if you post to the email list.
